National Strategic Cluster LifeScience Cracow

IQ Biozoom is a proud member of National Strategic Cluster "Life Science Cracow".

LifeScience Cluster Kraków was established in 2006 as a collaborative network of institutions and companies from the southern macro-region of Poland, united by common goals and a vision for developing an innovation ecosystem in the fields of biotechnology and life sciences:

• Creating a collaborative network in the Life Sciences sector, enabling effective connection and utilization of the existing potential in this area, including individuals, enterprises, higher education institutions, research units, business support institutions, and local and regional authorities.
• Supporting entrepreneurship and innovation in the life sciences sector and creating conditions for the effective commercialization of research and development results.
• Combining and developing resources and competencies in the life sciences field to effectively leverage both existing opportunities and prospects associated with the development of an innovative knowledge-based economy.

Activities within the LifeScience Kraków Cluster encompass two interdependent value chains originating from the fields of biotechnology and life sciences:

• Products and Technologies for Health and Quality of Life, which include drug research, medical diagnostics, e-health and telemedicine, therapeutic technologies and medical devices, medicinal products, and medical (cosmetic) devices.
• Products and Technologies for Sustainable Development and Bioeconomy, which cover modern sustainable agriculture, healthy food and nutrition, the environment, and the bioeconomy.

The initiative is coordinated by the LifeScience Kraków Cluster Foundation, established in 2013 as an autonomous and independent entity dedicated to the Cluster's development. The Foundation's activities focus on goals identified from the perspectives of (a) the Bio-Region and (b) the Cluster Partners. The Foundation serves as a tool enabling Cluster Partners to enhance operational efficiency and local government authorities to effectively implement sectoral policies for the development of a knowledge-based economy.

Since October 21, 2016, the LifeScience Kraków Cluster has held the status of a National Key Cluster.
