Last week was the final of the MIT Enterprise Forum CEE acceleration programme - 5 selected start-ups will participate in a week-long bootcamp at MIT in Boston. Among the winners is a participant of the first edition of the PFR School of Pioneers!
This year, 243 start-ups applied for the program, out of which 15 were selected for the acceleration program. The culmination of the program was the demo day, which took place last Thursday, during which an international panel of 130 members evaluated the teams' presentations. Out of the 5 awarded projects, 4 can be defined as positive impact start-ups.
The five awarded projects are:
Billon Group – A Polish-British fintech, is the most mature participant of the accelerator and the only one not focused on positive impact technologies. Billon Group uses blockchain to create a solution that combines currency payments, digitalization, document circulation, and identity management, aiming to be secure and tied to a specific user. Last year, Billon secured €5 million in funding from Mencey Capital and Rising Tide Financial.
IQ Biozoom – A start-up founded by Jakub Kaczmarski, a participant of the first edition of the PFR School of Pioneers and the acting director of the Łukasiewicz Research Network. This medtech start-up is working on a globally unique solution for monitoring glucose levels in the body using mediums other than blood, such as saliva. This will improve the quality of life for diabetics by eliminating the need for daily blood sampling. Biozoom's solution could also potentially be used to measure other substances in the patient's body.
