Polish start-up IQ Biozoom has partnered with the University of Coimbra’s Faculty of Medicine and Turkey's National Metrology Institute TUBITAK to develop a portable biosensor for non-invasive cortisol measurement in saliva. Facilitated by EIT Health, this collaboration aims to create accessible and rapid home tests for cortisol, a key hormone linked to stress, glucose regulation, and inflammation. These tests could revolutionize the diagnosis of various conditions, including psychological disorders like depression and chronic stress responses.
Inês Rosendo, a researcher at the University of Coimbra, highlights the potential of this cutting-edge technology for stress monitoring. Marta Passadouro from EIT Health emphasizes the transformative power of cross-border collaboration and networking in driving health innovation. The project is set to enhance personalized medicine by enabling more effective and widespread home health monitoring.
